AMERICA'S CUP!!

Well, we were there, 75+ of us, but Mother Nature bats last, and the race was abandoned for lack of wind. BUT, the forecast looks better, and the first race is now scheduled for Wednesday, same time...0100. Again, we'll open the Club shortly before midnite on TUESDAY and have the same format. Nicole (and ADRIFT) have graciously offered some snacks, we'll have the bar until 2AM, streaming on the big screen and hope to see you all again!!!

Judgment Day for BMWO - How to watch....

Judgment Day approaches for the BMWO team in their bid to win the Americas Cup back from the evil empire Alinghi.  As most of you know the AYC clubhouse will be open at midnight Sunday, Feb 7 for the festivities.  Several of you have asked how you can watch the events over the internet at home.  Well, suffice to say you can watch it right here...

Please understand that we are unsure how well this will work with the anticipated volume of viewers, so if the stream you are watching has issues you might want to try another!

COMING - Andrew Kerr Sailing Seminar - April 30, 2010

The Anacortes Yacht Club and One Design Plus are co-sponsoring an Andrew Kerr Racing Clinic in Anacortes April 30 and May 1, 2010.

Kerr is a unique combination of great sailor and great coach with a 27 year history of racing seminars given all over the world. On the sailing front, Andrew and team Disaster Area won the 2009 Santana 20 Nationals in another close fought battle. He was the head instructor at J World in San Diego for over a decade. His clinics are terrific.

Friday evening April 30, 2010 Andrew will present a "chalk talk" at the Anacortes Yacht Club, 504 7th Street, Anacortes, WA 98221 starting at 7:00 PM.

Saturday, May 1 will be on the water, with Andrew conducting a series of racing drills with his video cam and commentary running. The video will form the basis for discussion back at the club Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, May 2 the Anacortes Yacht Club will be hosting its annual Ed Knowles Hein Bank Race, a long distance event open to PHRF rated boats. Entry into this Hein Bank Race is included with the seminar.

All one design boats, keel & centerboard boats, as well as PHRF boats are welcome. The cost is $50.00 boat for PHRF rated boats; $30.00/boat for dinghy and centerboard boats; and $15.00 per person for those without boats.  The limit of boats on the water will be about 15 so early registration is highly recommended. Attendees are responsible for supplying their own food.

Judge Says - GO RACE

Justice Kornreich of the New York Supreme Court informed the America's Cup defending yacht club, Societe Nautique de Geneve, and the challenging Golden Gate Yacht Club today via telephone conference that she will not hear the American challenger's complaint regarding the 'constructed in country' requirement of the Deed of Gift before the 33rd America's Cup Match which is scheduled to begin on 8 February.

In plain English - the New York Supreme Court tells Alighi & BMWO to go racing and a decision/hearing will take place AFTER the match...

So there you have it...exciting isn't it!
