Shakedown Cruise

March 31 - April 1, 2012

This year’s cruise is returning to Bellingham.  After a good time there last year we are returning.  A new twist to this year’s cruise is that we have been invited to be the guests of the Bellingham Yacht Club on Saturday evening.  Earlier this year the Bellingham folks had a cruise to Anacortes where we hosted them at our club. They want to return the favor and have us as guests at their club.

While we are not having any other organized activities for the cruise as you know there is a lot to do and see in Bellingham.   You are on your own for those.  Besides the things close to the marina downtown is just a short walk.  There are two good chandleries close by in case it is a true shakedown cruise and you need something or maybe you are just looking for a good buy on that needed or wanted item that you don’t have.

For our joint activity with BYC it will start at 5:30 PM with drinks and socializing followed by a potluck.  The potluck portion will most likely start around 6:00 PM but don’t hold me to an exact time.  The potluck will consist of bringing your favorite dish for everyone and something for you to grill.  Snacks or light foods for cocktail time would be good as well if you wish to share.

We are going to be moored at the visitors dock in the southern basin.  This is the same place as last year and we have plenty of space there.  The BYC is a short walk (about 5 minutes) to the north.  All of this should be a lot of fun for everyone and for those who don’t need a shakedown cruise and are driving you can meet us on the dock or at BYC.  If the weather is really bad some of us might like the driving cruisers to stop by the dock before going to BYC.  No matter what it should be a good afternoon and evening of fun at Bellingham and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Please use the club’s Memberclicks registration so we know who and how many are coming.  It is easy to do!  Even I have been successful with this system.  For more information contact me anytime.
