NW Big Boat Association
OBJECTIVE
To promote the racing of large & fast sailing yachts in the Pacific Northwest and foster the development of long-standing social relationships between their owners.
QUALIFICATION
This series is open to any monohull that is PIYA Category II capable with a 2011 PHRF NW rating of 24 or lower.
SCORING
High-point scoring system with one point being awarded for starting each race, plus one point for each eligible boat you beat in a qualified event. Boats that participate in events outside of their home country will be awarded one (1) bonus point. Boats that DNF are still awarded one point and count towards the number of qualified boats in a particular event. Boats that DNS do not count towards the number of entered boats in a particular event.
COST, REGISTRATION & RESULTS
For the first year we are not proposing that there be any fee associated with joining the association, however in future years we may want to have a nominal fee to offset entertainment and trophy costs. Registration and results will be on-line using this website.
PRIZES
The fleet will be separated into two divisions (the split yet to be determined) with trophies will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers at the group annual meeting to be held following the conclusion of the racing season and before the start of the next racing season (likely January or February of 2012 at a location to be determined).
