Reporting Results
All AYC races are governed based on GPS time. GPS time is defined as the time reported by your GPS after it has acquired a proper signal. GPS time is highly accurate (within milliseconds) given that it is the foundation of how the global positioning system works.
For races where the race committee is on-station at the finish line your finish time will be recorded for you (this is the case for most buoy races). In those situations where the race committee is not on-station at the finish line (such as almost all distance races) you MUST record your own time (based on GPS time). It is then your responsibility to REPORT your finish time to the race scoring officer Steve Kleinbart. Note that even if the race committee is on-station at the finish you are advised to record your finish time in case there is a mistake.
You can report your finish time in one of three ways:
- Post your finish time on the club bulletin board outside the AYC clubhouse
- E-mail your finish time to Steve Kleinbart
- Call in your finish time to Steve Kleinbart at 360-466-3974
Note that it is your responsibility to report your finish time in a timely manner - if you fail to report your finish time within a few hours after the race you may not be scored.
